What is the rip map?
We have been working with Dune Intelligence to provide the rip map this season. The rip map shows where there is a chance of rips being present on the coastline. The map will show a line of bubbles which represent where aerial images were taken. These dots are colour coded to show the most likely locations of rips when the photos were taken. Orange dots show that a rip is likely to be present, while blue dots show that a rip is unlikely to be present.

Important Note
As this technology is still in its trial phase, data is not collected regularly enough to provide a good representation of the coastline at all times. The map below will only show data collected in the past day, but you can change the filters to see the status of the coastline at different time periods.
Another important thing to note is that the accuracy of this technology is still being reviewed, and it currently has had limited testing. A confidence rating (out of 100) is shown for each of the data points, which gives an indication of how likely they are to fall into the category shown (rip or no rip). The rip map is no substitution for swimming between the flags!

How do I see the rip map?
The map should appear below, but if it isn't loading you can check it out here. It will automatically zoom in to data points so if the world map is showing, there is no data available for the dates selected.
